Souvenir Evening Glove
The evening glove c.1888 contains references to Regency Harrogate, consisting of two villages - High Harrogate, on the hill to the north of Knaresborough road and Low Harrogate, clustered around the Sulphur Spring. Four major hotels, The Dragon, The Granby, The Queen's Head and The Crown, bore the nicknames of House of Commons, House of Lords, The Hospital and Manchester Warehouse, according to their situation and type of visitor. Between them the inns held three balls a week, Monday at The Dragon, Wednesday at The Crown and Friday at the Granby.
