Gauntlet Glove Embroidered with Birdsfoot Trefoil (detail)
First of two single gloves found at the Hydro Hotel shortly after Mrs Christie's departure.

Agatha Christie registered at the Harrogate Hydro (now the Old Swan Hotel) as Mrs Teresa Neele of South Africa, Neele being the name of her husband's mistress. Agatha was distraught by this affair and her disappearance may well have been an act of vengeance, rather than amnesia as she insisted. This theory is supported by the fact that Mrs Christie lost a diamond ring in Harrods, London the week before, yet it was forwarded to Teresa Neele at her hotel in Harrogate.
